Just one year ago, Tahsin arrived in the United States from Bangladesh with her family, ready to build a new life and create a brighter future for herself. 

Moving to a new country meant adjusting to a new culture, learning to communicate in English, and finding her way through an unfamiliar education system. Through those challenges, Tahsin remained determined to work, continue her education, and build a future for herself and her family.

For Tahsin, Northern Virginia Community College (NOVA) has become an important part of that journey.

She has found support in her professors and appreciates being part of NOVA’s diverse community. The resources available to students have also helped her navigate college and adjust to life in a new country.

Most importantly, Tahsin says NOVA has helped her become more confident.

“NOVA has given me the confidence I need to move forward,” Tahsin shares.

Affordability was also an important part of Tahsin’s decision to attend NOVA. For students balancing work, education, and financial responsibilities, NOVA provides an accessible path to a quality education while offering resources and support along the way.

Tahsin plans to continue her education and eventually earn her bachelor’s degree in Business Administration. For now, she is focused on making the most of her experience at NOVA and taking the next steps toward the future she envisioned.
