As I run this year’s DC Cherry Blossom 10-Miler, I’ll be thinking of the students at Northern Virginia Community College just up the road from my house. Perseverance is key as they navigate obstacles, overcome challenges and juggle priorities that would leave anyone gasping for breath: caring for family members, work, language barriers, cultural differences, financial need, transportation, food insecurity, and more. Many of them are also the first in their families to pursue post-secondary educational opportunities. They are trailblazers and heroes.
But even trailblazers and heroes need help once in a while.
As I push toward the finish line, I want to honor them as they do the same on their educational journeys. Would you consider joining me? Together, we can provide much-needed funds to help students pay for books and expenses or overcome an unexpected emergency that would otherwise derail them from finishing the semester.
For every dollar you give, I’ll match it up to $350 for a total of $700. That's enough to cover one class for a student and provide the boost they need to cross that graduation finish line.
